Britney Spears’ attorney Samuel D. Ingham III filed for the details of the case to be made public which her father Jamie Spears opposed.
As reported by People Magazine, Samuel D. Ingham III wanted the Free Britney case to be ‘transparent’. His report stated,
Ms. Spears has a right to privacy that overcomes the public’s right of general access to the conservatorship proceeding. And given the frequently pernicious use of sensitive and private information of celebrities, Mr. Spears has sought through the years to protect the conservatee — his daughter — from the pain that such free access to the information inevitably would cause her
However, Jamie Spears deemed this unnecessary. He reasoned that making the particulars of the case overt would rob the singer of her privacy. He further aversed,
It must be determined that she has the capacity to understand the consequences of her waiver
Jamie Spears has made it very clear since the beginning that he does not think that his daughter is mentally stable enough to be left alone or even make her own decisions. Hence the conservatorship
Why does Britney Spears have Conservatorship, to Begin With?
It all began in 2007 after Spears finalized her divorce from Kevin Federline, who applied for and won custody of their two children. Federline claimed that Spears had been behaving erratically — shaving her head, smashing the window of a paparazzi’s car, and several more incidents of emotional public breakdowns— and abusing substances.
In January 2008, Spears was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital for a second time. Her father and Wallet were granted a temporary conservatorship in February of that year, which eventually became permanent. Jamie stepped down from the role in 2019, for “personal health reasons,” and it passed to her care manager, Jodi Montgomery.
While, Spears herself has remained largely silent on the subject, on August 17, she filed a legal request seeking to change the conservatorship “substantially,” and to block her father from returning as her custodian. Then in early September, her lawyer requested that the proceedings be opened to the public, arguing that “transparency is an essential component for this Court to earn and retain the public’s confidence.”
The Free Britney Movement commenced in 2009 in response to the inhumane conservatorship.

What Does Jamie Spears Have to Say About All This?
Jamie Spears denied allegations and said that the conservatorship is simply a ruse to steal his daughter from him.
All these conspiracy theorists don’t know anything. The world doesn’t have a clue. It’s up to the court of California to decide what’s best for my daughter. It’s no one else’s business.
Moreover, he argued that it would be impossible for him to pocket any extra money.
He also said that the family and Britney’s team have been “stalked and targeted with death threats” as the rumors spread.
It’s horrible. We don’t want those kinds of fans. I love my daughter. I love all my kids. But this is our business. It’s private.
